Two Bikes Operations Coordinator

Two Bikes is seeking a full-time operations coordinator to assume full responsibility for the implementation of special programs and events. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing simultaneous projects and have the ability to foster coordination within the organization and greater Knoxville community. A passion for sustainable transportation is essential, but a technical knowledge of bicycles is not required to succeed in the position.

About Two Bikes

Two Bikes is a nonprofit bike shop and community center located in the Historic Old City of Knoxville, Tennessee. Two Bikes strives to expand access to the personal, social, and environmental benefits of riding a bike. Knoxville has a rich history of bicycling that has gained a national spotlight in recent years, and Two Bikes was established to ensure that all citizens of Knoxville have access to the amazing cycling opportunities in the area.

Job Responsibilities

Bike Drives (30%)

  • Direct the development, execution, and evaluation of 8 annual bike drives

  • Direct the vision and implementation of program growth

  • Develop a network of community partners to assist in the marketing and execution of bike drives

  • Facilitate the marketing and promotion of each donation event

  • Maintain accurate donation data from each event

  • Work with the operations director to successfully process each bicycle donation

Mobile Bike Repair “MBR” (30%)

  • Direct the development, execution, and evaluation of the MBR Program

  • Organize 9 annual MBR events

  • Facilitates all preparation for each MBR event

  • Organize the staffing of each event including volunteers and employees

  • Direct the development of program evaluation including event summaries and annual reports.

  • Directly participates in each MBR event.

Bike Donations (25%)

  • Direct the development, execution, and evaluation of 4 bike donation events

  • Grow the network of local nonprofit partners for bike donation events

  • Keep an organized list of the donation requirements and preferences of each donation event

  • Work with the operations director and volunteers to ensure that each bike is repaired and ready to be donated

  • Maintain accurate records of each bike donation event

  • Direct the vision and implementation of program growth

  • Plan the annual bike donation calendar

Fundraising (5%)

  • Write program updates and anecdotes for use in grants, reports, and promotional materials

  • Capture video and photography during events for use in grants, reports, and social media

Organizational Planning (5%)

  • Participates in staff, team, program, and board meeting

  • Participates in annual planning efforts, including strategic and operational planning and budgeting

  • Seeks out and participates in professional development and training opportunities

Program Contribution (5%)

  • Develop three unique community-focused bike rides that contribute to a diverse and inclusive cycling community.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of professional experience developing and evaluating events and programs

  • Strong project management skills including the management of complex, multifaceted projects resulting in measurable success and program growth

  • Fluency with Microsoft Office especially Excel

  • Passion for the Two Bikes mission, vision, and values

  • Commitment to environmental stewardship, social justice, and equitable transportation

  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to speak publicly, work collaboratively with other organizations

  • Strong self-motivation including the ability to work independently

Preferences

  • Experience in the nonprofit industry

  • A passion for bicycling as a form of equitable and sustainable transportation

  • Experience with photography, video editing, and social media all help

Compensation

  • $32,000 to $38,000 DOE; this position is not eligible for overtime pay. All full-time positions are accompanied by benefits including:

    • Medical, dental, vision insurance, and life insurance

    • 10 days of vacation plus a holiday recess from 12/24 through 1/2.

    • 5 additional personal days

    • 10 days of sick leave per year
